New Market Opportunity – Loughborough University Local Farmers & Producers’ Market
We’re delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new Loughborough University Local Farmers & Producers’ Market!
đź“… Pilot Event: Tuesday 6th October 2026
Following a successful launch, the market is planned to continue on the second Tuesday of each month during university term time, creating a regular opportunity to trade at one of the East Midlands’ busiest university campuses.
Loughborough University is a thriving campus with thousands of students, staff and visitors on site every day. The proposed location sits within a very busy part of the Students’ Union complex and we believe it has excellent potential to become a strong regular trading venue.
As this is a university market, we are required under the Loughborough Market Charter to obtain a rival market licence. This carries an additional cost which, for the pilot event, will need to be shared across attending traders. As a result, pitch fees for the pilot will be £30 for non-food traders and £45 for food traders, reflecting an additional contribution of around £15–£20 per pitch towards the licence.
The first market takes place immediately after Freshers’ Week, giving us an excellent opportunity to introduce the market to thousands of new and returning students.
This launch event will allow us to assess both trader demand and customer footfall. Following the pilot, we’ll review how the market performs, the ongoing licence costs and trader feedback before confirming arrangements for future monthly events.
As with all new venues, traders who support the pilot will be given priority consideration for future markets should the venue become a permanent part of our programme.
If you’d like to be part of launching what we believe could become one of the region’s most exciting university markets, we’d love to hear from you.
Pilot Date: Tuesday 6th October 2026
Let’s see how the first event performs—we’re optimistic about its potential and excited to get it off the ground together.
